Raadslid Lokaal Dinkelland plunderde €500.000,- van begrafenisvereniging uit Denekamp

Denekamp – Begrafenisvereniging Helpt Elkander uit Denekamp is voor een veel groter bedrag gedupeerd dan in eerste instantie werd gedacht. De penningmeester, ook raadslid namens Lokaal Dinkelland, stal in totaal een half miljoen euro van de vereniging en is sindsdien spoorloos.

Gisterenavond werden de leden van de begrafenisvereniging bijgepraat over de financiële situatie van Helpt Elkander. In het kulturhus in Denekamp werd tijdens een besloten bijeenkomst gemeld dat het gestolen bedrag niet de eerder geschatte 21.000 euro is, maar 500.000 euro.

Naar nu blijkt had het bestuur in december al het vermoeden dat er iets niet klopte. Rekeningen bleven openstaan en daar is de penningmeester destijds ook op aangesproken. Er werd druk op hem uitgeoefend om de zaken voor de jaarwisseling op orde te hebben. Maar begin januari was de man plotseling vertrokken. De TC Tubantia wist de man op te sporen in een hotel in Zwitserland maar daar vertrok de man na enkele dagen.

Het bestuur van de begrafenisvereniging kreeg gisterenavond forse kritiek. De leden vinden het onvoorstelbaar dat de penningmeester zoveel vrijheid had dat hij ongemerkt honderdduizenden euro’s kon wegsluizen. Het bestuur beloofde er alles aan te zullen doen om het geld terug te vorderen.
